Police on Tuesday spotted the vehicle of a 42-year-old man who was wanted in connection with a case of causing bodily harm on a road in Larnaca using automatic number-plate recognition.

He was stopped by traffic police at 4.45pm and as officers suspected he was drunk underwent a breathalyzer the result of which was positive.

The suspect was then taken to a Larnaca police station where a second test showed a result of 123μg instead of the permitted 22μg.

After he was charged for drunk driving he was handed over to Aradippou police which are investigating the case of causing bodily harm.

He was charged for the offence and released pending his appearance in court.
