Pensioner remanded on child pornography charges (updated)

Limassol district court

A 71-year-old man was remanded in police custody for five days on Sunday by the Limassol district court after his arrest the previous day following the discovery of a stash of child porn in his home.

The suspect appears to have admitted his involvement in the case.

According to the police, they visited the house after information from Europol showed that someone had sent child porn images to another web user.

The police cyber crime unit located the house and on Saturday officers went to conduct a search.

During the search police found four laptops, two tablets, a mobile phone, eight hard disks, three USB and a memory card.

An initial examination of them showed an archive of video and photos of child sexual abuse. They were taken away.

The 71-year-old was taken to Limassol CID where he was questioned by cyber crime officers, to whom he apparently admitted the crimes under investigation, possession and spreading of child pornographic material and accessing child pornogrpahy.
