One death and 303 new coronavirus cases were announced on Sunday.

The death concerns an 89-year-old man with underlying health conditions. The total number of people who died from Covid-19 is now 233: 156 men and 77 women with average age, 79 years.

In total 46,544 tests were carried out, PCR and rapid tests, with a positivity rate of 0.65 per cent.

There are 129 patients in hospital, 25 of whom in serious condition. Thirteen people are intubated.

The new cases concern 104 people found positive through contact tracing, nine among people who got tested in private labs and five among samples processed by state hospitals’ labs.

Two cases were people who got rapid tests in private labs.

Another 183 cases were among the 45,075 tests given on Sunday on behalf of the health ministry in all districts. Most cases – 106 – were detected in the Limassol district with a positivity rate of 0.79 per cent. In Nicosia, 48 cases (0.25 per cent) were detected, 19 in Larnaca (0.28 per cent), nine in Paphos (0.23 per cent) and one in the Famagusta district (0.05 per cent).

The total number of cases is now 36,878.
