A convoy of around 70 cars drove on Sunday in the streets of Limassol in an unusual carnival parade aimed at spreading cheer to the people.

The idea was to hold a children’s carnival parade since this year’s event was cancelled due to the pandemic.

The coordinator of the event was former Carnival Queen for 2019, Monica Pieridou, who called on the people to put on their carnival costumes and take part in the parade, each in their own car.

Pieridou said all health protocols were observed.

“Even now, in this situation, we can have fun, by observing the measures,” she said in a Facebook post after the event. “It is important to keep our spirits high to be able to overcome these difficult times.”

The same event is set to take place next Sunday.
