Coronavirus: Over 103,000 people received at least one vaccine dose

To date, 103,283 people in Cyprus have received at least one Covid vaccination dose and 29,821 were given both jabs, reports said on Tuesday.

Among the 73.462 who received the first dose were 1,345 people who belong to vulnerable groups.

Health authorities plan to ramp up vaccination of people at high risk of serious illness with the aim of administering the first dose at least, to some 30,000 people by the end of the month.

According to the ECDC, by March 5, Cyprus had administered the first dose to 9.2 per cent of the population aged 18 and above, averaging 11.42 doses per 100 people.

The island has also covered most people over 75 and at least 80 per cent of health professionals.

Meanwhile, some 9,000 of 22,808 vaccination slots had been filled Tuesday, half an hour after they were made available online.

The slots were for people 67 and above. They were made available through the state’s vaccination portal, which opened at 8am.
