Lidl Cyprus has signed the Diversity Charter with the Centre for Social Innovation – the EU’s official representative on the island, as part of a European Commission initiative to promote equal opportunities and diversity in every work environment of the Cypriot business world.

“At Lidl Cyprus, on a daily basis, we take care to prove our commitment to equality and diversity in practice, through our existing procedures, corporate practices and the development and evolution of our people,” said Regional Director of Lidl Cyprus Spyros Kondylis, who signed the Charter of Diversity online.

He added that “the management of diversity, its acceptance, and its promotion as a competitive advantage, are key and strategic issues for Lidl Cyprus”.

On a daily basis, Lidl Cyprus is committed to strengthening the uniqueness of its people as well as to encourage their diversity and ensure that they find themselves in a friendly working environment, without discrimination.

The creation of such a culture is achieved through important initiatives that revolve around equality and diversity, such as attracting and selecting candidates without stereotypes, the development and evolution of people based on their abilities, the existence of a common evaluation system, the implementation of equal pay policy based on skills and performance, as well as the existence of policies and a Code of Conduct.

All of this ensures that justice and equality remain core values of the company’s culture.

In a related move, and on the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8, Lidl Cyprus has dedicated the month to its female personnel with a new communication campaign, which will give the public the chance to meet a selection of women from its offices, stores and logistics centres, each of whom excel both in and out of the company.
