The transport ministry on Monday issued guidelines for drivers and passengers as part of the new lockdown.

Under the guidelines, the maximum number of passengers on public transport, airport shuttles and private buses is 50 per cent of capacity with the exception of those who have obtained special permission by the ministry. This also goes for buses carrying pupils.

Taxis must also only carry half the number they might normally.

Large families using mini-buses are exempt.

Private vehicles can be driven by members of the same household including minor children without the use of a mask.

In cases persons from different households are travelling in one vehicle, three people are allowed including the driver, with the use of masks.

Four people, including the driver, can travel to work in vehicles with the capacity to hold more than five people. They are required to wear masks.

Regarding public transport, the following was announced:

Where a bus does not have a driver’s cab or protective shield separating him from passengers, the seats behind the driver as well as the first seat on the left must remain empty. Masks are mandatory.

Buses must be cleaned and disinfected frequently at least every four runs and at the start and end of a route.

All measures must be taken to avoid overcrowding during boarding and disembarking.

A hand sanitizer must be available at the entrance of each vehicle.

As long as a bus is stopped the doors must remain open, as well as windows and skylights.

Buses carrying pupils have to be disinfected before and after each route.

It is recommended pupils sit in a the same seat daily where possible and siblings sit next to each other.

Buses without air conditioning should keep windows and skylights open to circulate the air.
