Coronavirus: shop owner fined €8,000, 141 other persons booked

Police booked one shop owner and 141 other individuals for violating coronavirus protocols in 24 hours from Tuesday until Wednesday.

The Nicosia shop owner was fined €8,000 because the shop was selling all items though it is only allowed to sell essential goods.

Of the 141 persons booked 84 neglected to send the required SMS to ask for permission to leave their homes. Most of the others did not wear protective face masks.

9,108 checks were carried out in 24 hours, 1,698 in Nicosia, 2,300 in Limassol, 1,367 in Larnaca, 1,076 in Paphos, 1,327 in Famagusta and 499 in the Morphou district.

Traffic police checked 812 people and marine police 29.
