In this video, we learn about a fleet of river interceptors operated by non-profit organisation The Ocean Cleanup, which are at the forefront of the fight to remove waste from the world’s waterways.
The interceptors were designed by the organisation’s founder and CEO Boyan Slat to collect plastic from rivers, in a bid to keep the debris from polluting the sea.
We also learn that Slat plans to return to the Great Pacific Garbage Patch – a collection of marine debris in the North Pacific Ocean – this summer, to press on with the clean-up there.
