We already know that robots are likely to play an increasingly important role in our future, given the rapid advances of technology.
Yet, up to now, the design of robots had limited their ability for more flexible, finessed actions. Instead, their rigidity made many of them inappropriate for robot-to-human encounters, posing a significant setback in assigning them roles where lives were in danger.
Today, however, all that is about to change, with the advent of ‘soft robotics’ and advanced sensors. This means, instead of clumsy, inappropriate range of motion and mobility, robots are increasingly likely to be deployed as first responders in emergencies.
