Coronavirus: 157 new cases on Saturday

The health ministry announced 157 new cases of coronavirus on Saturday.

No deaths were reported.

The new cases were among 83,338 tests, PCR and rapid tests, with a positivity rate of 0.19  per cent.

In total 156 patients with Covid-19 are in hospital,  51 of whom in serious condition. Of these 28 are intubated.

Three of the new cases concern passengers who got tested at the Larnaca and Paphos airports.

Another 45 were people who got tested privately, and six were samples processed in state hospital labs. One case was a person referred for testing by their physician and seven were people who got rapid tests in private labs.

Another 95 were detected through the rapid tests carried out in all districts on behalf of the health ministry. Seven of these cases were among tests in migrant reception facilities.

In the Nicosia district, 28 cases were detected with a positivity rate of 0.10 per cent, in Limassol 30 cases were found positive (0.16 per cent), 14 in Larnaca (0.11 per cent), 8 in Paphos (0.10 per cent) and 8 in the Famagusta district (0.12 per cent).

The total number of cases so far is 70,899.

So far 346 deaths were recorded.
