Today we face the daunting challenge of feeding nearly eight billion people, and that number will increase in the short-term, being projected to peak in 2064 at around 9.7 billion people.

Yet with already half of all the habitable land on Earth dedicated to agriculture, we’re facing some fairly significant food-growing challenges. Could the so-called ‘blue revolution’ be the answer?

The term blue revolution refers to the emergence of aquaculture as an important and highly productive agricultural activity. Aquaculture refers to all forms of active culturing of aquatic animals and plants, occurring in marine, brackish, or fresh waters.
