With 14,008 votes, Akel’s Irene Charalambides received the most votes out of all the MPs in the newly elected House, it was revealed on Monday.
In posts on her Twitter and Facebook pages, Charalambides said that the chief elections officer informed her that she received the most votes both in Nicosia and islandwide.

Charalambides said she was “beyond moved,” and extended her gratitude towards everyone who voted for her.
“I have no words to express how I feel for all the love and this big embrace,” she said.
This is the second time the MP becomes the public’s favourite, the first being 2016 when she received 16,847 votes.
“I will continue to serve the citizen with the same determination, devotion and love, to serve the Cypriot public with honesty and sincerity,” she concluded.
