Police said Tuesday a bomb had been found under a car in Xylophagou, which apparently failed to explode.

The device was found by the 55-year-old owner of the vehicle at around 12.30pm.

Police cordoned off the area as the bomb squad was notified to defuse the device.

The force was trying to track down the perpetrator of the failed attack, as reports said the 55-year-old was known to them from previous cases relating to unlawful activity.
