A 35-year-old man suffered serious injuries on Friday after a gas explosion in his flat in Paphos.

The Palestinian man was rushed to Paphos hospital with extensive burns to his body. He was later admitted into the ICU.

Investigators suspect the explosion was the result of a gas leak and the man trying to light a cigarette in the kitchen.

The violent ignition also caused damage to the flat.
