Thirteen Syrian migrants were found on Sunday morning inside a truck from Turkey that had docked at Famagusta port in the north.
According to the Kibris Postasi newspaper, the Syrians had each paid $5,000 to travel to the north, from where they would pass into the Republic.
The migrants are aged between 16 and 35, one of whom said his mother was in Cyprus and he has not seen her for five years.
