A twin sister’s story: riding the waves of loss to healing

In this video, we meet a sister whose love for her sibling merges her passion for the waves and the desire to turn sorrow into healing.

We head to Half Moon Bay, California to meet Kelsey Ellis, a woman driven by two passions: surfing and helping people through grief and trauma. After losing her twin sister Audrey to Covid-19, we learn how she transformed her grief into impact, by starting a dedicated surf-therapy programme for female survivors of human trafficking, domestic violence, sexual assault, grief and loss.

The video is part of National Geographic’s six-part IMPACT series, hosted by actress Gal Gadot, which follows women from very different backgrounds who are making a big difference in serving their communities.
