Police checks have been beefed up and over the past 24 hours 2,500 checks led to 28 individuals and two business owners being fined, police said on Thursday.

There were a further 900 checks focusing solely on whether people had their SafePass, which resulted in ten violations being uncovered.

The police announcement on Thursday comes amid a continuous rise in the number of people testing positive for the coronavirus disease.

The authorities said they will clamp down on violations against the coronavirus restrictions and will strictly enforce whichever further measures the government announces on Friday.
