Paphos police have arrested a 67-year-old woman on suspicion of stealing €17,000 from an elderly man who died on Friday.

The 81-year-old man had been in hospital in the past few days. After his death, his son found out that between June 14 and July 1 someone withdrew €17,000 of the man’s money from ATMs.

Investigators were led to the suspect who worked for a company belonging to the deceased. The woman denied stealing the money, claiming the 81-year-old had promised to give it to her before he died.
