Coronavirus: Four businesses among 65 booked for breaching Covid measures

Four business owners were among the 65 people who were fined for breaching coronavirus measures in the last 24 hours, police said on Thursday.

The violations resulted from 3,326 checks across the island, between 6am on Wednesday and 6am on Thursday.

The majority of violations were reported by Limassol officers who booked 23 people and two businesses after 462 checks. A similar number of violations was reported in Nicosia, with almost double the checks. Officers in the capital booked 23 people and one business owner after 920 checks.

In Larnaca, nine people were fined after 470 checks, while in Paphos, four people, including a business owner were booked after 647 checks.

Three people were also fined in Famagusta after 466 checks.

No violations were reported in Morphou after 85 police checks, nor by the traffic and marine police after 247 and 29 checks respectively.

Breaches in coronavirus protocols include failure to wear a face mask or carry a SafePass.
