Remand for stabbing suspect who knifed neighbour

A 21-year-old man was remanded in custody for five days in Limassol on Friday on suspicion of injuring his neighbour, 74, with a knife.

Police said the incident happened at 6am. The man told police he had been watering his garden when he noticed that the tyres of his car had been slashed.

He then saw the suspect coming at him with a knife.

Before he had a chance to react, the suspect allegedly assaulted him with the knife, inflicting injuries to the chest and abdomen.

The man was rushed to hospital for treatment. Doctors said his condition was not life threatening.

The suspect denied the incident. In his possession, officers found three knives and a knuckle duster.
