If there is one thing there is plenty of during the summer, it’s live music. Even in August when events slow down for a while as many go on holiday, music evenings remain a steady feature entertaining those that holiday on the island. At Darcy’s Restaurant in Paphos the live performances are almost non-stop with weekly invited musicians taking the stage. This August is thankfully no exception!
On Friday is a performance by Davey Woodford at the Peyia venue at 6pm. A regular at Darcy’s, Davey sings and plays guitar while covering a wide range of musical genres over his three-hour sets. His smooth vocal style attached to his melodic guitar approach really captivates locals and tourists over and over again. The music begins in the afternoon but the restaurant is open all day long, from 12pm onwards serving food and drinks.
On Saturday Too Hot For Red will play the best in alternative rock music featuring four seasoned musicians with the most energetic and crowd-pleasing performance you are likely to see in the Mediterranean.
Up next is Ash Solo performing on August 13. In his one-man show, Ash plays Fender Telecaster and Gibson Epiphone electro acoustic guitars covering Pop, Rock, Indie, Easy Listening and Dance from 1950s to recent hits. Ash is originally from Swindon, UK but has recently moved to Paphos after a 15-year relationship with the island. He has a varied musical history and is proficient as a guitarist, bass player, pianist and vocalist; influenced by wide musical interests.
Symbiosis rock band will take the stage on August 14, playing high energy explosive rock anthems. The band was originally formed by Jay Georghiades in 2010 and has gone on to be a great success playing all over Cyprus and the British bases. Their repertoire covers rock music by bands such as Metallica, AC/DC, Bob Jovi, Nirvana, Def Leppard, Kings of Leon, The Killers, Queens of the Stone Age, Greenday and many more.
The next music event at Darcy’s features a completely different music genre as the Reggae Rockers bring uplifting and vibrant beats. Paul and Mike, alias the Reggae Rockers, have been playing all over Cyprus for the last 14 years, performing live at many bars in Paphos and Limassol. They also perform at private functions. The duo offers a wide variety of music from reggae, Motown, rock, soul, all decades, party songs, dance songs, all of the favourites from Bob Marley, The Killers, Elvis, Queen and UB40.
On August 19, Dan Brown will play well-known and beloved hits on the guitar, again with a 6pm set. Plenty more bands and solo musicians are scheduled to perform at Darcy’s until the end of August ranging from jukebox style music to rock and acoustic covers, entertaining those in Paphos all summer long.
