Two arrested for stealing from sunbeds

Two people suspected of stealing items from sunbeds in Protaras have been charged after being arrested on Sunday.

On Sunday afternoon, a police officer noticed a young man holding a bag in a suspicious manner and moving away from the sunbeds on the beach.

The suspect was stopped but did not give sufficient explanations about the bag he had in his possession. A second suspect was also caught.

The arrests came as part of a plan by Famagusta CID to tackle theft from busy beaches in the Protaras area.

The two suspects admitted to stealing two bags from sunbeds. Both were charged and released pending their court appearance.
