The non-profit dance company DanceCyprus has been supporting professional choreographers and dancers for the last 15 years and through productions and performances it has contributed greatly to the island’s cultural scene. This year, inspired by recent ups and downs, the dance company is presenting Disruption, a contemporary choreography by Fouli Stylianidou.

Supported by the Cultural Services of the ministry of education and scheduled to be presented this September in Limassol and Nicosia, Disruption was created as a projection of the emotions that people and especially artists felt in the lockdown. Yet another form of creativity born through the numerous lockdowns, the performance moves between feelings of fear, calm, anger, passion, frustration and the uncertainty of the future where the need for love, understanding, acceptance and support is essential for all in the world.

Choreographer and dancer Fouli will be joined by Ivi Hadjivasiliou and Christianna Eftychiou on stage moving to music composed by Dimitris Savva. They will first present their performance at Rialto Theatre on September 16 before travelling to the Engomio Cultural Centre in Nicosia for two more performances on September 18 and 19.
