A 20-year-old driver hit and seriously injured a pedestrian late on Monday in Limassol, police said.
The accident took place around 9.15 pm when a car driven by the 20-year-old collided with a 58-year-old man who was trying to cross the road.
A police source told the Cyprus Mail the victim was not on a pedestrian crossing.
An ambulance transferred the injured man to Limassol general hospital, where doctors diagnosed him with internal bleeding, skull fractures, as well as multiple fractures in his body. He is hospitalised in serious condition.
Police carried out an alcohol test on the young driver which came back negative, while a blood sample was also taken from the pedestrian to determine whether he was drunk or on drugs.
