Issues raised by Turkish Cypriots about obtaining an EU digital Covid-19 certificate and tests at the crossings have been put to the bicommunal technical health committee, it was reported on Tuesday.
Turkish Cypriots seeking to obtain the EU certificate can currently only do so if they have a Cyprus ID – causing major issues for those without the necessary paperwork.
Another issue raised is that of the requirement to provide proof of a negative test to cross over even for those who are vaccinated. Their reasoning is that proof of vaccination is sufficient to gain entry to shops and other businesses once in the government-controlled areas.
CNA cited a source close to the matter as saying that the proposed changes have been put forward and answers are expected shortly.
The committee is set to meet virtually on September 17, but information may be provided earlier.
