Four-day remand for suspected car arsonist

Limassol district court on Tuesday issued a four-day remand for a 42-year-old man suspected of setting fire to a 65-year-old man’s car, police said.

The 65-year-old owner reported that his car, which had been parked outside his house, caught on fire around 1.30 am on Monday morning.

Police said that the car in question was completely destroyed, while a second car parked nearby, owned by somebody else, was also damaged.

After the fire service put the fire out, it was determined that it had been set maliciously.

Investigations pointed towards the 42-year-old suspect, who was arrested around 5.30pm on Monday and brought before the district court on Tuesday, where an order for his four-day remand was issued.
