Fine and suspended licence for speeding driver (Updated)

Nicosia district court on Thursday suspended the licence, took seven points and imposed a €1,100 fine on a 26-year-old man who was arrested for speeding on the Limassol-Nicosia highway.

Police said that they had stopped the driver on Wednesday afternoon as he was doing 183 km per hour. The speed limit on the motorway is 100 km per hour.

The man was arrested on the spot, and later released after being called to appear before Nicosia district court the following day.

The court on Thursday ruled that he will receive seven points on his licence, which is to be suspended for the next two months. He will also have to pay a €1,100 fine.
