Coronavirus: 20 fines after 3,371 checks

Two businesses and 18 individuals were booked in the last 24 hours for violating coronavirus measures, police said on Wednesday.

The fines came after 3,371 nationwide checks carried out between 6am on Tuesday and 6am on Wednesday.

Most checks, 1,206, were conducted by officers in the capital who booked two people for failing to abide by the measures while in Limassol eight individuals were fined after just 263 checks.

Larnaca officers booked three people after 572 checks, Paphos’ officers issued six fines, including two businesses, after 155 checks and in Famagusta one person was booked after 517 checks.

No violations were reported by officers in Morphou, traffic, marine and port police.

Breaches of coronavirus measures include failure to wear a facemask and carry a SafePass.
