Three women arrested with forged, stolen ID

File photo: Paphos Airport

Three women are in custody following a foiled attempt to travel with fake and stolen documents while also impersonating other individuals.

The incident occurred on Thursday night between 8.30 and 9pm as the women attempted to board a flight at Paphos airport to Warsaw.

The various documents turned up on an Interpol list of passports which are suspected to be stolen. The passports were Italian, Dutch and French.

Two of the women are reportedly asylum seekers with a legal right to remain within the Republic but sought to travel abroad anyway.

The first presented a French passport and investigations led to her admitting that she filed an asylum claim on 30.8.19 but has now since been arrested.

The second woman filed for asylum on 2.7.20 while the third admitted that she found the Dutch passport in an envelope, thrown in the bin, last Monday.
