Teenager arrested on stolen motorcycle for thefts

A teenager was arrested on suspicion of illegal possession of property on Monday after he was found driving a motorcycle that was reported stolen last week in Nicosia.

Police had put an 18-year-old boy under surveillance, following a tip-off that he was involved in theft cases.

He was arrested after he was found driving a motorcycle without registration plates in a specific area in Nicosia on Monday and he approached a car with two passengers and was handed a television set.

Officers said they found an item that can be used as a weapon in the teenager’s possession, while further examinations revealed the motorcycle he was riding was reported stolen on Sunday.

During a search in his home, police found a game console and various video games.

The two people who were in the car also submitted a statement to the police and were released.
