Documentary provides some Food for Thought

documentary poster

Friends of the Earth Cyprus, a Limassol-based environmental, non-governmental and non-profit organisation, has produced a documentary titled Food for Thought and this month will present it for the first time. On November 12 at the University of Nicosia’s Unesco Amphitheatre, the documentary will have its official premiere followed by a brief discussion.

Filmed in both Greek and English with respective subtitles, Food for Thought deals with the challenges that young people living in rural areas in Cyprus who are active in the field of food production face. The documentary, directed by George Stylianou, presents their difficulties, aspirations and hopes so that they can stay and grow in their country. Talking with locals, the film features young people from urban and rural areas expressing their views on the production, distribution and consumption of food in Cyprus and their desire for equal access of all residents of the island to quality, local products.

An evening of reflection is planned for November 12, with the documentary screening starting at 7pm and a discussion with the audience members happening shortly after. An evening that aims to give its guests plenty to think about and food for thought.
