Music, music and more music is coming up as live performances take place all over the island this November and December. This Friday, the popular band Rumba Attack will head to Sarah’s Jazz Bar in Nicosia for a lively performance starting at 8.30pm.

The trio performs original instrumental material in their distinctive Flamenco-Rumba style, blended with sounds from Middle Eastern origins, Greece and Bossanova. Expect to feel the immediacy, passion and heartbeat of Flamenco-Rumba with Constantinos Lyras on guitar, Memnon Arestis on guitar and Savvas Thoma on percussion.

Also on at Sarah’s Jazz Bar this weekend is the Sarah Fenwick Quartet performing on Saturday. The bar owner herself will take the stage singing Cinema Jazz accompanied by musicians Alexis Kasinos, Irenaeos Koullouras and Marios Spyrou. The quartet will take audiences on a trip down memory lane as “movies and jazz go together like cocktails and good company,” the jazz bar says. Think the jazz tunes directors such as Woody Allen chose as the soundtracks to their movies to create atmosphere and nostalgia.

Towards the end of November, something different and certainly upbeat is coming. The well-known pop-rock band Minus One is organising a one of a kind performance at Larnaca’s Savino Live. Briefly leaving behind their usually electrifying rock set, their next performance on November 27 will pay tribute to the legendary band Queen. At a late gig starting at 10pm, Minus One take the stage to perform a selection of Queen classics put together into a tribute to what is considered one of the best and most influential bands of all time.

Come December and more jazzy melodies will sound. On December 2, the well-known Ioannis Vafeas Trio will perform well-known jazz standards from the Great American songbook at Divinus restaurant on Mackenzie beach.
