Coronavirus: Two businesses and 12 people fined after 2,141 checks

Police on Friday said they fined 12 individuals and two establishments after 2,141 checks for the implementation of coronavirus measures.

The checks were carried out between 6am on Thursday and 6am on Friday in the government-controlled areas.

About half of the checks, 1,007, were carried out in Nicosia were four people were booked, 193 checks were carried out in Limassol with two businesses and four people receiving a fine and two people were booked in Famagusta following 294 checks and two in Paphos after 138 inspections.

No violatiosn were reported in Larnaca or Morphou after 317 and 142 checks respectively.

Traffic police also carried out 50 checks with no fines issued.

Violations include failure to wear a face mask or carry a SafePass.
