Humanity is obliged to continue fighting against the coronavirus, following the course drawn by the scientists, Health Minister Michalis Hadjipantelas said in a Christmas message released on Friday.
The minister said throughout the pandemic, the government had taken measures to protect society, with full respect to “our fellow human beings”.
“The killer virus is threatening the entire humanity and we are obliged to continue the effort, as it has been drawn by the scientific community,” the minister said. “The overwhelming majority of our people backs the effort, follows and is supportive.”
Hadjipantelas said the youth has taken the big step to protect themselves but above all their grandparents, parents, and society. “We thank them.”
The health ministry empathised with all patients and was trying to resolve problems in their daily lives.
Handling the pandemic, upgrading the health system’s services, and tackling emerging problems “are high in our priorities.”
The minister expressed gratitude to the Cypriot people for the effort and thanked medical staff for their contribution.
“We are grateful to all health scientists, doctors, nurses, caretakers, all members of staff, fighting daily with personal cost, sacrifice, and care, to provide the best to their fellow humans,” the minister said.
