Coronavirus: 13 individuals, 7 establishments fined

In total 1,753 checks were conducted in the government-controlled areas over the last 24 hours, with 13 individuals and seven establishments fined for breaching Covid decrees.

Following 517 checks carried out In Nicosia, police fined a man €500 for going to work instead of isolating after testing positive.  A coffee shop was fined €1,500 and a grocery €1,000, for staff working without a SafePass.  

In Limassol, following 171 checks, three establishments and four individuals were fined. A barbershop was fined €1,000 for allowing in more customers than permitted and another barbershop manager was fined €500 for working without a SafePass. A grocery shop was also fined €1,500 for allowing entry to a customer without SafePass.  

Following 274 checks in Famagusta, four people were booked and a supermarket was fined €1,500 after police found a customer without a SafePass.  

Two people were fined after 46 checks in Paphos. 

No violations were reported in Larnaca or Morphou following 412 and 195 checks respectively. 

Traffic police carried out 128 checks, and port police carried out ten checks without any bookings.
