The police have called for an end to the “violent incidents” following at least three reported attacks by Greek Cypriots on foreign nationals working as food delivery drivers.

Police spokesman Christos Andreou confirmed that they are investigating three such incidents, the latest of which appears to have taken place on Sunday night in Palouriotissa.

A 28-year-old delivery driver was injured and taken to hospital after he was attacked by a group of 14-to-16-year-olds and some of their family members.

There were five injuries in total, while the 53-year-old father of one of the Greek Cypriots was taken in by police and later released.

Speaking to state broadcaster CyBC on Tuesday morning, Andreou called for an end to the “violent incidents” and noted that the youngsters were denying the accusations.

A police source confirmed to the Cyprus Mail that attacks were logged on Saturday and Sunday night, while Politis reported two incidents occurred in Palouriotissa and another at Rigenis Street in old Nicosia.

Videos circulating on social media purporting to show at least two incidents drew attention, although they could not immediately be confirmed to show the attacks in question.
