Pensioner remanded for stabbing man multiple times

A 74-year-old man was remanded for eight days on Wednesday after he admitted to stabbing a 34-year-old multiple times in Paphos the previous evening.

Both were taken to hospital, the younger man by ambulance – where he underwent surgery after suffering wounds to his back, chest and thigh.

Doctors said his situation is serious but stable as he remains hospitalised.

The older man was also taken for treatment following minor injuries but was later discharged from hospital and led to Paphos district court, which issued the eight-day remand.

The 74-year-old admitted to stabbing the younger victim, as police are looking into charges of grievous bodily harm, but claimed that he had no prior relation to the 34-year-old.
