An art takeover

leda theo

There must be something about the arrival of spring that makes art exhibitions multiply! New solo and group art showcases are opening around the country, while others are continuing to welcome art lovers to all sorts of exhibitions.

Larnaca, a town that tends to be short of cultural happenings, has two new exhibitions this month. Meditations is Leda Theo’s exhibition that opened earlier this week and until April 24 it will be on at the O Gallery featuring large scale flower paintings. At Apothiki 79, Theocharis Karayiannis is curating the group exhibition Schedia san Lepidoptera, which includes work by 31 artists. It will remain open until mid-June with guided tours every Saturday at 10.30am.

valaesNicosia too has a new exhibition on its cultural agenda that opens on Friday. Golden Gallery by Kapatays on Mnasiadou Street is welcoming well-known Greek sculptor Constantinos Valaes. The exhibition will remain open until May 2 displaying Valaes’ colourful tree sculptures.

Towards the end of the month, an exhibition will open in Paphos that blends photography with music. Photographer Andreas Achilleos and composer George Christoforides will host their first Photography & Music Exhibition at Technopolis 20, a project that has the goal to provide visitors with a new dimension of interpreting art. Featuring the street photography images of Achilleos, what is unique about this showcase is that each photograph will be accompanied by a QR code that visitors can scan to listen to the matching music piece that complements it. The exhibition opens on April 29 and until May 6 visitors can explore how music and visual art come together.
