Tuning up for Cyprus International Accordion Festival

accordion fest 3

Kicking off the summer festival season is the fourth edition of the Cyprus International Accordion Festival, taking place on June 3-5 in Larnaca’s Ayios Theodoros. Concerts, seminars, an accordion exhibition and workshops with renowned accordionists and musicians from Greece and France will welcome old and young music fans over the weekend.

Workshops will run during the day/afternoon and live performances at the outdoor theatre will entertain festival-goers in the evening. Four concerts are planned for the first evening alone featuring accordion ensembles, rembetiko folklore dances, a tribute to old cinema and the band Duo Fueye.

Day two will begin with a morning yoga session before another series of workshops takes place. Besides sessions with professional accordionists, two interactive music workshops for children will be held in the afternoon as well as a guided tour of the village. A traditional pasta-making workshop with ladies from the community is expected to gather old and young fans before another three concerts fill Ayios Theodoros with music.

The third day of the festival will include another three workshops as well as a village tour and morning and afternoon yoga sessions. To wrap up the weekend’s activities, accordionists and musicians will take to the village streets to play and jam together before performing at the outdoor theatre. Then at 7.45pm the Young Volunteers choir will hold a short performance followed by the Symphonic Band of Strovolos Municipality – European University Cyprus with the Trio Rodine band concluding the festival’s events for 2022.
