A minute with Semeli Vogazianou Film Director

Where do you live?
I am jumping back and forth between London and Cyprus. In London I live with random roommates and in Cyprus with my mom and our dog Luigi.

What did you have for breakfast?
Protein shake. I have this delusion that I am going to get ripped one day.

Describe your perfect day
When I watch the final version of a project I directed and I know I made some good stuff. No better feeling

Best book ever read?
All Of Us poetry collection by Raymond Carver. Very beautiful poems.

Best childhood memory?
Any memory that involves video games. I used to play with my dad and cousins.

What is always in your fridge?
Feta cheese

What music are you listening to in the car at the moment?
Kanye West. Please don’t judge me. I am obsessed with him.

What’s your spirit animal?
Sloth. I’d like to think I am hard working and I try to be active but deep in my heart I know that my natural habitat is to be the laziest and slowest person in human history.

What are you most proud of?
I am proud of my ambition and drive to achieve my goals. It’s an endless hunger that I will do my best to keep alive for the rest of my life.

What movie scene has really stayed with you?
So many. For the past two years I’ve had this scene from Fanny and Alexander by Bergman play in my head over and over. God comes to life in the form of a big marionette and speaks with Alexander. I’ve never seen anything like it before.

If you could pick anyone at all (alive or dead) to go out for the evening with, who would it be?
I’d choose Bergman. I’d ask him about his process of writing, working with his actors and cinematographer.

If you could time travel when/where would you go?
I’d go into the future for sure. As a woman I don’t think going back in time would do me any good. Anyways, I think I’d go into the future of my life and see if I actually achieved any of my goals.

What is your greatest fear?
Not achieving my goals.

What would you say to your 18-year-old self?
To relax. My god, I was so anxious.

Name the one thing that would stop you dating someone

If the world is ending in 24 hours what would you do?
Have a panic attack
