Man detained for car arson in Ayia Napa

A 35-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of car arson that took place in Ayia Napa, on June 9, police said on Thursday.

According to a police statement, a car was set on fire while the vehicle was parked in the parking of the Ayia Napa post office and the fire had spread to two more vehicles.

The fire service rushed to the scene and extinguished the fire which had caused extensive damage. The car from which the fire started belonged to a 47-year-old from Larnaca.

The suspect was to be appear at Famagusta District Court today for the issuing of a remand order.
