The health ministry on Sunday reminded the public that as of Monday, the maximum price of individual self-tests is set at €1.70.

The price cap was set after some sellers were selling individual tests from a box of five for €2 apiece. The box of five costs €6.

“It is emphasised that the separate sale of self-diagnostic tests that are part of a larger package is prohibited,” the ministry said.

It added that consumers should be able to differentiate between tests that are packaged and sold individually in factory packaging and those pulled individually from a box of six.
