Artists’ market returns to Nicosia

1 (6)

October arrives with a packed agenda. Annual festivals, pop-up experiences, film screenings, new art exhibitions and shows fill the month’s calendar and culture buffs have lots to look forward to. On the first day of the month, an arts and crafts market in old Nicosia seeks to connect the public with local creatives.

The Yasemin collective returns with the second Pola Sela market on October 1 at their new space Entos twn Texnwn in old Nicosia. Invited Cyprus-based artists will display their handmade creations in an organised and warm environment in the heart of Nicosia. From 1pm to 8pm, local creatives will set up their stalls.

“We invite the public to come by our street and discover just how many treasures are hiding in our island,” says the Yasemin collective. “You’ll get to see a variety of interesting creations and if something calls out your name, take it and support our local artists!

“Part of the fight against the destructive effects of the capitalist system,” they add, “is being conscious of our consumer choices: Where did it come from, how authentic is it, what materials and what energy went into creating the final product?”

The market still has some spots available for artists who are interested in taking part as the team is eager to host and support many local talents.
