A 22-year-old died in the village of Pyrgos, Limassol after his dirt bike crashed into an oncoming car, police said on Friday.

According to Limassol police spokesman Emilios Kafas, Panayiotis Constantinou, 22 and from Moni, was hit by a car at approximately 6:30pm, and was rushed to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Asked about the bike, Kafas said that it was an offroad dirt bike.

Police said they conducted an alcotest on the driver of the car, which registered a zero.

Kafas added that Constantinou had been wearing a helmet and motorbiking gear.

“Police ask that anyone, who knows about the accident to contact Limassol police of their nearest police station, or 1460,” he said.

Police are also looking into if Constantinou’s bike was allowed to be driven on public roads or only off-road.
