Stash of flares, Molotovs and fireworks found at Ypsonas home, one arrest

A 22-year-old man has been arrested following a raid on his home in Ypsonas Limassol during which police found fireworks, flares, Molotov cocktails, smoke bombs and drugs, they said.

Following a tip-off the man’s home was searched on Sunday.

There, police said they found 135 fireworks and firecrackers of various types, eight flares, 13 smoke bombs, six improvised Molotov cocktails, 13 grammes of cannabis and 7 grammes of cocaine, as well as an amount of 800 euros.

The 22-year-old was arrested.

According to reports, police believe the items were set to be used at football matches and that the Molotovs were the same type used during incidents following a match at Tsirion stadium last Sunday.
