Two hundred kilo propane tank catches on fire in Larnaca

Three fire engines extinguished a fire which broke out in a propane tank valve on Sunday, in the yard of a Larnaca residence.

According to the fire service , a call was received when the fire broke out around 4:30pm in a 200kg capacity tank valve that supplied two boiler rooms for heating, at a house in Ayia Anna village.

The fire service cooled the tank and extinguished the fire using a ground hose and manual hoses with water transferred from a nearby estuary, using two tanker vehicles.

According to the announcement, the Larnaca fire stations needed to recall personnel from upcoming rotation breaks to cover the needs of the situation.

The causes of the fire are under investigation with cooperation from the office of labour inspection and the police.
