At the press event, Cyprus Country Manager Al Qassim spoke at length about Emirates’ unique developments and newly-introduced products in 2022. These include:

  • Over US$ 2 billion investments in products and services to ensure Emirates customers continue to Fly Better

The airline is undertaking the largest-known airline retrofit programme to refresh and refit 120 aircraft with the latest Emirates interiors and Premium Economy cabins.

Additionally, Emirates has rolled-out a new Hospitality Strategy in June 2022, created in partnership with one of the world’s top hospitality management schools.

As of August 2022, the airline has also enhanced its menus across all cabin classes.

  • Premium Economy

Emirates is the only airline in the region to offer a Premium Economy service. Very positive feedback and strong bookings for Premium Economy have resulted since the service was launched as a full cabin product and experience on August 1, 2022.

  • Rebuilding Emirates’ global network connectivity and services

The airline has rapidly rebuilt its network in tandem with the easing of flight and travel restrictions. Today, Emirates flies to more than 130 passenger destinations (including DXB). This represents 92 per cent of its pre-COVID route network.

The airline also expanded connectivity through new codeshare agreements with six airlines: Garuda, Royal Air Maroc, Airlink, Aegean, United Airlines and Air Canada.

“Cyprus, the jewel of the Mediterranean, has always been a strategic market for us, and the return of our operations to pre-pandemic levels reaffirms our commitment to supporting the market’s growth and recovery,” noted Emirates Country Manager in Cyprus Al Qassim.

“Our daily flights offer Cypriot passengers more choice and connectivity to their favourite holiday destinations, such as Dubai, Australia, the Indian Ocean Islands, Far East, the Americas and Malta,” he continued, adding: “international passengers will also benefit from the increased connectivity to Cyprus.”

Emirates outlook for 2023

Emirates has a strong presence in Cyprus, having resumed its daily services on the Dubai-Larnaca route, as of December 2022, as well as a dynamic cargo network, which carries over 200 tonnes of cargo to and from Cyprus on a monthly basis. Emirates will continue to support the growth and recovery of the local community by connecting Cyprus with Dubai and onwards to more than 130 global destinations, generating more trade and tourism opportunities.

The airline serves Cyprus with a Boeing 777 wide-body aircraft all year round, with a capacity greater than 20,000 seats per month, facilitating increased inbound traffic from key markets across its global network, further boosting the local travel and tourism sector.

Emirates currently serves passengers across six continents and operates the world’s largest fleet of wide-body Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 aircraft, offering spacious cabins and iconic inflight features such as its A380 On-board Lounge and Shower Spa.

Passengers also enjoy the warm hospitality of the airline’s multinational cabin crew – a team of professionals from more than 160 nationalities – regionally-inspired gourmet cuisine, as well as the award-winning inflight entertainment system ‘ice’, offering more than 5,000 channels of the best movies, TV shows, live TV, podcasts, and music.

The airline has safely restarted operations to more than 130 destinations, and currently provides daily flights from Larnaca to Dubai and Malta.
