Limassol police on Tuesday arrested a 47-year-old suspect in an investigated case of burglary and theft at a meat warehouse.

The meat trader had filed a complaint with police, stating that from the beginning of 2022 he detected missing boxes of frozen meats, which he kept in a rented cold storage area in Limassol. As a result of his suspicions the trader installed monitoring devices on his goods beginning this year.

On Monday, the complainant was alerted to the fact that a number of meat boxes were in motion on the Limassol-Nicosia highway and immediately informed police.

Police proceeded to intercept the vehicle, driven by a 47-year-old former company employee, and, in a subsequent search, found €520 worth of frozen meat in ten boxes.

The complainant identified the stolen items and the suspect was arrested and taken into custody.

The man allegedly confessed to the theft, while Limassol police continue investigations in relation to his possible involvement an additional thefts of goods worth over €50,000.
