Man fined over duty-free tobacco

A 54-year-old man was fined over the illegal possession of duty-free tobacco products.

The arrest was part of a police operation in cooperation with customs officers following a tip-off regarding duty-free tobacco in Larnaca, Cyprus News Agency reported on Monday.

During the operation, officers searched the house and other premises but also the car of the 54-year-old suspect, where they found 21 boxes of duty-free tobacco products of various brands.

The illegal products and the vehicle of the suspect were confiscated.

Authorities then imposed to the man a fine, whose amount was not specified.
